Vehicle Accident Training
 
May 27th
08:00 hours Today members from Station 3 headed to Cockers Towing in E-town for a Vehicle Rescue Refresher and some "tool time". On the way crews stopped for a filling breakfast at Country Meadows Restaurant compliments of the Chief . The Weather was hot, but the crews made it through several extrication scenarios. Thanks to Chief Houtz for the breakfast and Cockers towing for the use of their facilities. Crews trained for about five hours

Motorcycle Accident
 
May 11th
16:00 hrs Co#3 was dispatched to Rt 241 in the area of Eckert Rd for an MVA involving a motorcycle. Asst 3 (Braden) responded and arrived on scene to find a male subject on the ground leaning against the motorcycle. Due to Mechanism of injury and pt condition Life Lion was asked to fly. Chief 2(Jurell) arrived along with Deputy 3 (Custer). Chief 2 took the LZ and Dep 3 had Ops. Great job by crews from Rescue 2 and Rescue 38. Crews were out for about one hour.

MVA in Rehersburg
May 5th
09:30 hrs while attending a vehicle rescue class with Rehersburg Fire Company, Students and Staff were on a brake from instruction time, when the all too familiar sound of tires squealing was heard. There about a block up the street from the Station where the class was being held was and MVA with injuries. Two vehicles were involved with a total of 4 patients. One was transported in the end by Bethel Ambulance. The accident was a “T-Bone” collision. Crews were on-scene for about 30 minutes. Great job by the students who assisted.

Vehicle Rescue Training with HACC Lebanon Campus EMT Students
May 5th
6 students from the Lebanon Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College EMT Class, along with instructors Frank Scarborough, George Aupperly, and Chris Peters, along with aids Cathe Mutschler, Jim LaGrelius, and Juan Rodriguez attended the Rescue Portion of the EMT Class. This was held at Rehersburg Fire Company in Berks County. Class began around 08:30 hours and ran until 12:30 hrs. The class consisted of an Air Medical Landing Zone Safety Presentation and basic safety when working around MVA scenes. Then the students had the opportunity to actually experience what it is like to be working on a crash scene. Patients were placed into cars and the Students were asked to treat them just as it was a real scene. The Fire Company was gracious enough to bring out there rescue tools and make this as real as it gets. Thanks to Rehersburg Fire Company and the Students/Instructors in attendance.

South Forge Road and Twisty Lane MVA
May 4th
22:20 hrs Ambulance 181 was dispatched to Route 117 (South Forge Road) in the area of Twisty Lane for a MVA with injuries. Ambulance 181 responded under command of Chief Peters. Crews arrived to find Company 2 (Campbelltown) and South Londonderry Township Police on-scene. Crew was advised of one vehicle into the woods and not patient to be found in the area. Ambulance 181 assisted with searching the immediate area for the patient, no luck. Crews returned after 45 minutes.
