While Working an MVA on Mt Wilson Rd. Deputy 3 (J Custer). Saw a large column of flames coming from the sawmill. He called LEMA and had the Commercial 1st Alarm Dispatched. Chief 3 cleared the MVA and took command of the the sawmill fire. He arrived to find fire in a conveyor coming from the kiln. Engine 5 was assigned to the hydrant on side alpha and a line to the interior of buiding 12. Engine 2 hit the hydrant on side B Bravo. Tower 1 went in service and gained access to the conveyor off side D Delta about 200' from the structure and 30 feet in the air. Crews were able to keep the fire confined to the conveyor system with the assistance of Maintenance personnel from Weabers Inc. Station 3 was out for about 3 hours. |
